We’re looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Finance Manager to join our Finance team and play a key role in shaping how Wessex Internet plans, invests and performs.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll own the forward-looking half of the finance function, leading financial planning and analysis, business partnering and commercial decision support.
This is a genuine commercial business-partnering role, rather than a purely reporting-focused position. You’ll work closely with teams across network build, operations, sales and commercial, providing insight, constructive challenge and recommendations that help us manage costs, improve unit economics and make effective investment decisions.
You’ll own our integrated financial model, budgeting and reforecasting cycles, scenario analysis, investment appraisal, cost management and management dashboards. You’ll also work closely with the Financial Controller, who leads the finance operations team and owns the actuals, ensuring a clear and consistent flow from historical performance through to future forecasts.

- A salary between £75,000 - £85,000, dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities as a Senior Commercial Finance Manager
- Own the FP&A cycle, including the integrated financial model, annual budgeting, monthly latest estimates/reforecasting, scenario analysis and forward-looking financial planning.
- Lead performance reporting and analysis, including monthly performance reporting, Board and investor reporting, KPIs, variance analysis and forward-looking insight.
- Act as a key business partner across network build, operations, sales and commercial, providing financial insight, constructive challenge and decision support.
- Lead cost management and investment appraisal, challenging spend, improving unit economics and assessing business cases and commercial proposals to support effective capital allocation.
- Analyse the economics of our network rollout and customer growth, including build costs, penetration, ARPU, cost-to-connect, capital per customer and payback by build area.
- Own business intelligence and management dashboards, improving the systems, tools and reporting that support consistent performance management across the business.
- Lead and develop the Business Finance Partner, while working closely with the Financial Controller and senior leadership to maintain a single source of truth and financial accountability.
What we’re looking for from our next Senior Commercial Finance Manager
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or qualified by experience with a strong Commercial Finance and FP&A track record.
- Strong experience in financial modelling, forecasting, budgeting and data analysis, with advanced Excel skills and experience using Power BI or similar.
- Demonstrable commercial business-partnering experience, with the confidence to influence, review and constructively challenge operational and non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience in investment appraisal, business cases, cost management and improving unit economics or margins.
- Experience in a capital-intensive, infrastructure or subscription/unit-economics environment would be highly desirable.
- A proactive, curious and commercially minded approach, with excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insight.
- Confidence operating at senior level, including interaction with senior leadership, Board and investor stakeholders.
- A self-starter who is comfortable building analysis, processes and reporting from first principles and driving improvements across the business.
