Referment is working with an independent commercial insurance broker that advises organisations on general insurance, risk management and complex risk-transfer needs. The business is establishing a regional broking presence in Manchester and is looking for an experienced insurance professional to lead its general insurance activity across the North West.
This is a senior client-facing role combining business development, relationship management and regional planning. You will work with senior management on the local business plan while drawing on specialist colleagues elsewhere in the organisation to support clients with a broad range of commercial risks.
The Role
- Lead the development of general insurance business across the North West region.
- Meet prospective clients, understand their businesses and risks, and build lasting commercial relationships.
- Help shape and execute the strategic plan for the Manchester operation alongside senior management.
- Collaborate with broking and specialist teams across the wider business to develop appropriate solutions for clients.
- Manage competing priorities carefully, maintaining accuracy and dependable follow-through in a deadline-driven environment.

What We're Looking For
- Substantial experience as a commercial insurance broker, account executive or risk manager.
- The confidence and credibility to develop new client relationships and represent a regional broking operation.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to discuss insurance and risk requirements clearly.
- Excellent attention to detail and an organised approach to prioritising multiple pieces of work.
- Comfort using standard Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Desirable Experience
- Experience across several classes of commercial insurance would be particularly useful, as the remit covers varied client needs rather than a single narrow product line.
This could suit an established commercial insurance broker, senior account executive or risk-management professional who enjoys both winning relationships and contributing to the direction of a regional business.
