About the job
Our client, a leading and fast-growing provider of mobile and consumer electronics protection services, is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Legal Counsel to join its European Legal team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative in-house legal team, playing a key role in supporting the business through a period of continued growth and transformation.
Key Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: Fixed-term contract expected to run until February/March 2028
- Working Pattern: Hybrid, 3 days per week in the London office
- Location: London
- Equipment: Provided
- Pay: Fixed-term annual salary, dependent on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements with suppliers, channel partners and other third parties involved in the distribution of insurance products and services.
- Providing practical, business-focused advice on regulatory requirements, operational matters, insurance-related issues and commercial risks.
- Drafting, reviewing and updating customer-facing terms and conditions, policy documents, IPIDs and related materials.
- Supporting GDPR and wider data protection matters, including DPIAs, data subject requests, records of processing and privacy-related business queries.
- Assisting with the investigation and management of data incidents, complaints and escalation processes where required.
- Supporting and mentoring a junior member of the legal team who has recently qualified, while working closely with the Legal Directors and wider business stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements
- Essential prior in-house legal experience, ideally within insurance, financial services, technology, retail or another regulated sector.
- 4-6 years' PQE, although candidates outside this range will be considered where there is a strong overall fit.
- Experience advising on legal and regulatory issues within a regulated commercial environment.
- Strong relationship-building skills and confidence working with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
- Experience working within fast-paced businesses where priorities can change quickly and legal teams operate closely with commercial functions.
- A collaborative and approachable style, with the ability to build strong relationships within a friendly and highly interactive office environment.
- Comfortable supervising and supporting more junior legal team members.
