Senior Commercial Manager – Humber Region - Port / Marine Works

Location: Humber Region, UK
Role: Site Based
Project: Major Infrastructure Project - Port / Marine
Duration: Long-term Project
Employment: Permanent preferred; contract considered for the right candidate

About the Opportunity

Shilcocks Consulting are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to support a major infrastructure project in the Humber Region.

This is a long-duration opportunity for an experienced commercial professional with a strong background in major, complex infrastructure projects and the ability to operate effectively within a multidisciplinary project environment.

The successful candidate will bring substantial NEC target cost experience, together with a proven understanding of both client and contractor-side commercial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage commercial activities across a major infrastructure project.
  • Provide strategic commercial advice and support to the project and senior management teams.
  • Manage NEC target cost contracts, including commercial governance, change management, forecasting, cost control, and risk.
  • Work collaboratively with client, contractor, consultant, and supply-chain stakeholders.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Oversee change control, compensation events, applications, valuations, and final account processes.
  • Monitor project performance against budgets, forecasts, and agreed commercial objectives.
  • Support commercial negotiations and the resolution of contractual and commercial matters.
  • Provide clear commercial reporting to project leadership.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of a complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure programme.

Essential Experience & Requirements

  • Significant experience operating as a Senior Commercial Manager or in a comparable senior commercial role.
  • Strong and demonstrable NEC target cost experience.
  • Experience working on both client-side and contractor-side projects or organisations.
  • Proven experience within major infrastructure projects.
  • Multidisciplinary infrastructure experience is essential.
  • Strong understanding of commercial management, cost control, change, and contract administration.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Right to work / valid permit to work in the UK.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a site-based role within the Humber Region.
  • Demonstrable experience supported by suitable professional references.

Desirable

  • Experience on major energy, marine, renewables, industrial, or associated infrastructure projects.
  • Experience operating within complex project and supply-chain environments.
  • Relevant commercial or quantity surveying qualification and/or professional membership.
