Talented people are the key to our success.

Would you like to work for an inclusive and collaborative company that is recognised as one of the UK's leading infrastructure organisations?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Energy business, supporting the delivery of the Great Grid Partnership (GGP) with National Grid. Operating under a long-term Enterprise Agreement, this major programme will deliver numerous projects of varying value and complexity, playing a vital role in strengthening the UK's energy infrastructure and supporting the transition to a low-carbon future.

Initially, you will play a key role within the GGP Core Service Team, leading commercial, procurement, and financial activities across the programme. As projects progress through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and into delivery, you will provide commercial leadership and strategic direction, ensuring robust contract administration, commercial governance, risk management, and successful project outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity to take a leading commercial role on a nationally significant infrastructure programme, collaborating with an experienced team and helping to shape innovative delivery solutions that will support the UK's future energy needs.

We are looking for a commercially astute, delivery-focused professional with strong leadership capabilities, excellent commercial acumen, and a thorough understanding of the construction and infrastructure sectors. Experience within the energy sector, particularly transmission or overhead line projects, would be advantageous but is not essential.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of major infrastructure projects and programme activities.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies that maximise profitability while effectively managing risk and opportunity.
  • Support business growth through active involvement in work-winning activities and the development of commercial solutions.
  • Provide commercial leadership throughout Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and project delivery phases.
  • Manage all aspects of project commercial performance, including cost control, forecasting, reporting, account settlement, and final accounts.
  • Lead monthly commercial reviews and Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) processes.
  • Ensure commercial reporting procedures are robust, accurate, and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Manage and support commercial teams, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development.
  • Drive procurement activities in line with business and supply chain objectives.
  • Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve commercially advantageous outcomes.
  • Manage contractual processes and ensure compliance with contract requirements and company procedures.
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage commercial risks while maximising opportunities.
  • Support the resolution of commercial and contractual issues, including dispute avoidance and dispute resolution activities.
  • Produce high-quality management information and commercial reports for senior leadership teams.
  • Maintain ownership of project close-out activities and legacy commercial matters.
  • Deliver commercial and contractual awareness training to project teams.
  • Promote continuous improvement through effective lessons learned and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Ensure commercial best practice is maintained across all programme and project activities.
  • Work closely with senior management to establish project objectives, operational targets, and strategic priorities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
