About the Role
As Whitewater Group continues to scale across multiple international markets, we are seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to take full ownership of the commercial function across our project portfolio in Ireland, Nordics, and US contracts. This is a leadership role where you will build, manage, and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors.
You will be the commercial backbone of our delivery operation: ensuring every project is contracted and estimated correctly, every variation is captured and recovered, and every member of your team is performing to the highest standard. The right person for this role is someone who has done it before — experienced, organised, comfortable with large numbers, and equally comfortable managing people as they are managing contracts.
Your Profile
- 10+ years in quantity surveying or commercial management, with a track record in a senior leadership role.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Proven experience managing a QS team — leading a commercial team is essential for this role.
- Strong command of contract administration, variation recovery, CVR, cashflow forecasting, and final accounts.
- Background in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering and construction sectors strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with clients, contractors, and senior stakeholders.
- Fluent English; additional European languages an advantage.
- Minimum 3 days per week in the Naas or Clonmel office; international travel approximately one week per month.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
