Senior Commercial Manager

Location: Birmingham - Birmingham NHS Trust

Salary: Competitive salary

Working pattern: 37.5 Hours, Monday to Friday


We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager based in Birmingham. You will provide commercial leadership across small to medium contracts, or as part of a wider team on a larger framework, helping protect contractual entitlement, strengthen client relationships and support successful delivery.

Join our team and play a key role in delivering safe, compliant and commercially sustainable outcomes. Working closely with Operations, Finance, Procurement and Work Winning colleagues, you will lead an open and inclusive commercial team, build trusted relationships and help turn commercial strategy into practical results for customers and the business.

What you will do

  • Develop excellent client relationships in support of successful account delivery, to aid change and conflict management and promoting Amey in retaining/winning future works.
  • Implement and Drive consistency of commercial processes both pre and post contract for contracts.
  • Lead commercial and contractual delivery across contracts, maximising value while managing risk, cost and cash flow.
  • Own commercial controls, including budgets, forecasts, monthly cost value reconciliation, work in progress and applications for payment.
  • Manage contract change, notices, early warnings, claims and extensions of time, ensuring accurate contemporary records are maintained.
  • Support bids, mobilisation and supply chain strategy so that commercial commitments transfer effectively into delivery.
  • Lead, coach and develop a commercial team, promoting inclusion, accountability, professional growth and an open working environment.

What you will bring

Essential

  • Significant senior-level experience in quantity surveying or commercial management, including successful main contract management.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience of budgeting, forecasting, reporting and cost control.
  • Sound knowledge of standard forms of contract, contract change, claims, dispute avoidance and contractual notices.
  • Experience of supply chain procurement, management and accounting.
  • Confident leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative and customer-focused approach.
  • A commitment to health and safety, inclusive leadership and developing others.

Desirable

  • A degree or master’s degree in quantity surveying, commercial management or a related profession.
  • PFI and or NHS experience.
  • Continuing Professional Development and progress towards membership of a relevant professional institution.
