Laing O'Rourke is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join the team delivering a major project at Hinkley Point C.
This is a senior commercial role with responsibility for commercial performance, governance, risk and opportunity across a complex and highly regulated project environment.
You'll work closely with project leadership, operational teams, clients and key supply chain partners, while supporting the wider Commercial team.
What will the role look like?
- Work closely with BYLOR and the client organisation, providing commercial leadership and building effective working relationships.
- Lead the commercial delivery of significant and complex Tier 2 and supply chain packages, ensuring strong commercial governance and project performance.
- Manage NEC forms of contract, with responsibility for commercial performance, risk management and contractual compliance.
- Manage and oversee live subcontract packages, including procurement, commercial performance, change, valuations, payments and final accounts.
- Lead change control, variations, claims and commercial negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
- Provide cost reporting, forecasting and commercial insight to project leadership.
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks while maximising opportunities.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to project and operational teams.
- Build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants and internal stakeholders.
- Support and develop the wider Commercial team, including Commercial Managers, Senior Quantity Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
- Promote commercial best practice, governance and continuous improvement across the project.

What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Proven senior commercial management experience within a major contractor or complex project environment.
- Strong experience commercially managing high-value packages on major projects.
- Strong NEC contract knowledge, including subcontract management, change, risk and commercial performance.
- Experience leading, supporting and developing Commercial teams and working with wider project stakeholders.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management; RICS membership is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working within a highly regulated environment, such as nuclear, defence, energy or major infrastructure.

Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
