Senior Commercial Manager – MEP London

This role sits within our inhouse Mechanical & Electrical Subcontractor, Mace MEP. You will be the lead Senior Commercial Manager on a multi-million pound project in Central London.

Your role will include cost management of complex MEP works packages, managing risk and opportunity ensuring profit on packages and project. Supporting the Senior Commercial team members in administering the monthly commercial procedures such as Cost Value Reports.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing & providing leadership to a team of MEP Managers and Professionals, ensuring the principles, structures, tools/capabilities and responsibilities are in place to deliver MEP area plans and deliver excellence.
  • Addresses subcontractor contractual claims and change.
  • Produces monthly client applications.
  • Approves invoices and issues IPC.
  • Drafts necessary MEP technical and contractual correspondence.
  • Commercially manages MEP design consultants and specialist fees.
  • Ensures MEP site team acts within commercial and legal procedures and agreements.
  • Communicates with clients and subcontractors.

You’ll need to have:

  • Experience working in an MEP commercial role.
  • Experience leading MEP projects from a commercial aspect.
  • Chairs monthly project cost report and risk meetings.
  • Strong financial skills and commercial acumen.
  • Understands project construction plan.
  • Measurement to assess variations.
  • Networking with clients/contractor supply chain.
  • Member of senior management and safety leadership teams.
  • Understanding of current construction technology.
  • Working on a wide range of contracts.
  • Can cascade objectives and put in place effective tools to manage.
  • Leading commercial management team.
  • Seeks opportunities to sell Mace services and win work.
  • Motivates and develops team, mentoring junior employees.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management (or equivalent).
  • CSCS.

You’ll also have:

  • Contract law savvy with the ability to mitigate risk and manage key clauses.
  • Understands Mace service offer and promotes the business to clients.
  • Exposure to diverse construction projects, contracts, commercial environments, and tasks (or equivalent).
  • Draws on leadership style to build high-performing teams.
  • Strategic approach to management of projects. Understands client requirements and promotes Mace.
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced colleagues.
  • Membership of MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS/MICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Construction management expertise.
  • Developing commercial and financial acumen.
  • Experience leading parts of construction projects within large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
