Senior Commercial Operations Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial professional to take on a senior, hands-on role at the heart of the UK energy transition. Reporting to the Delivery Director, the Senior Commercial Operations Manager will lead commercial operations across Transmission Investment’s portfolio of assets and projects, helping to ensure high standards, strong governance and effective commercial outcomes.

The role would suit someone who is commercially and numerically astute, organised and confident working across contracts, procurement, operations, risk and reporting. You will work closely with colleagues across Delivery, Asset Management, Operations, Finance and joint venture partners, supporting operational activities, new projects and continuous improvement across the business.

Our hybrid approach supports work-life balance while creating opportunities for colleagues to collaborate and learn together. For most roles, this means working from our Glasgow or London office two days per week.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing commercial operations across O&M activities, including contracts, framework agreements, work orders and purchase orders.
  • Administering contract management processes and supporting strong commercial governance across the portfolio.
  • Engaging day to day with O&M contractors, service providers, joint venture partners and internal teams on planning, procurement, invoicing and cost control.
  • Running procurement processes for operational activities and identifying suitable service providers.
  • Working with Asset Management and Operations teams to prepare annual budgets and support business cases for investment and project activity.
  • Managing commercial reporting, customer invoicing, activity recording and operational revenue checks.
  • Leading portfolio insurance procurement, compliance reporting and insurance or contractual claims support.
  • Supporting new project bids, asset acquisitions, commercial due diligence and transition into operations.
  • Continuously improving commercial management processes to create efficiencies and maintain high standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
