Senior Commissioning Officer – Health, Housing and Homelessness

Permanent

Grade D - £46,579 - £55,224

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

We're looking for a motivated Senior Commissioning Officer to join our Adult Social Care Commissioning Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing, improving and commissioning services that make a real difference to the lives of Birmingham's citizens.

About The Role

As a Senior Commissioning Officer, you will lead and support commissioning, contract management, policy development and service improvement activities across Adult Social Care. Working collaboratively with colleagues, providers, health partners and local communities, you will help ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services that improve outcomes and provide value for money.

  • Leading commissioning projects and service reviews
  • Developing and managing relationships with providers, stakeholders and partner organisations
  • Supporting market development to ensure sustainable and high-quality care services
  • Monitoring service performance, quality and outcomes
  • Managing complex commissioning and contract management activities
  • Contributing to policy development, business cases and strategic planning
  • Supporting service transformation and continuous improvement initiatives

You will bring:

  • Experience of commissioning, service development, contract management or related activities
  • Experience and knowledge of housing and homeless policies and how to apply them operationally is desirable for this role
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and turn insight into action
  • Experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including providers, citizens and partner organisations
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Experience supporting change programmes and service improvement projects
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
  • The ability to balance competing priorities and deliver results within challenging timescales
  • Knowledge of performance management, governance and continuous improvement approaches
