About The Role

As Senior Communications Manager – Scotland, you will lead and coordinate communications supporting Balfour Beatty's priorities across Scotland.

As part of the wider Corporate Communications team, you will work closely with the:

  • Head of Public Affairs and Policy
  • The Media team
  • Internal Communications
  • Embedded project communications teams

to deliver integrated communications programmes that support business growth and customer priorities. The role will help strengthen Balfour Beatty's profile with external partners, customers, industry stakeholders, local communities, authorities and the media by showcasing the company's people, projects, expertise and contribution to Scotland's economy.

What you'll be doing

  • Act as the principal Communications Business Partner for Balfour Beatty's operations across Scotland, developing and delivering integrated communications strategies and plans that support business growth, customer priorities and the wider Group Communications Strategy.
  • Work closely with business leaders, the Head of Public Affairs and Policy, the Media team and embedded project communications teams to identify and deliver communications opportunities that strengthen customer relationships, support project delivery and raise Balfour Beatty's profile with the Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, customers, industry stakeholders, local communities and the media.
  • Provide communications support for Balfour Beatty’s significant Power Transmission & Distribution portfolio, ensuring activity highlights the scale, strategic importance and customer value of this work.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and customer communications teams, ensuring communications activity supports shared priorities, reflects customer requirements and aligns with contractual commitments.
  • Develop and maintain a forward programme of communications activity, including customer and stakeholder visits, project milestones, campaigns, thought leadership, events and media opportunities, ensuring a coordinated One Balfour Beatty approach.
  • Provide strategic communications advice and support to senior business leaders, helping position Balfour Beatty as the leading infrastructure partner in Scotland and market leader in Power Transmission & Distribution.

Who we're looking for

  • Strong understanding of the Scottish political, policy and media landscape, with an ability to identify opportunities to strengthen Balfour Beatty’s profile and reputation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling content for a range of audiences, including customers, stakeholders, communities and the media.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering integrated communications plans that support business priorities, customer relationships and project outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across internal teams, customers, project teams and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work at pace and collaborate effectively across a complex, matrixed organisation.
