Summary

INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Communications and Marketing Officer to join in our Restore Nature portfolio to tell the story of our Landscape Recovery Project - Heart of the Dales (HoD). We’re looking for someone with marketing and communications experience to help share our work to create landscape-scale change for nature, climate and people.

  • Salary: £27,849 per annum
  • Contract Duration: Fixed-term contract until 31st March 2027
  • Working Pattern: 22.5 hours per week. Hybrid working arrangements are available.

If you have any questions about this role please contact: claire.braeburn@nationaltrust.org.uk.

What It's Like To Work Here

The landscape you will be working on stretches from Malhamdale, Upper Wharfedale and up to Hudswell Woods in Richmond. You will connect the people to the landscape through messages, communication, events and supporting stakeholder management with the team.

Our Landscape Recovery Project - Heart of the Dales (HoD) looks to restore over 9500 hectares of National Trust and neighbouring land across three distinctive areas of the Yorkshire Dales. It involves woodland and habitat creation, natural flood management, peat restoration and species re-introduction coupled with a large, exciting programme of stakeholder engagement at its core. Could you be our storyteller?

What You'll Be Doing

As part of our north regional Land & Nature consultancy team, you’ll sit alongside other project teams delivering transformational landscape scale change across the North of England. The role is varied; you could be photographing a community tree planting event, planning press coverage of landscape-scale projects, or dealing with delicate stakeholder management comms.

Alongside sharing the nature restoration story of the HoD project, you’ll also shine a light on partnerships, local community connections, our new Tenants of Tarn House, and share our staff and volunteer stories. There will be a requirement for managing press, PR stories and public events working closely with PLT and Participation Team in particular.

With your creative flair, you will find the news hook, seek out the photo opportunity, and enable advocacy of the project through sharing nature connection opportunities. Doing this, you’ll secure press coverage and create digital content (web, social media and video) and internal communications coverage about our partnership case studies and habitat restoration work, to reach a wider audience through their channels.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
