Senior Communications and Marketing Officer

We’re looking for a Senior Communications and Marketing Officer to plan and lead our Restore Nature communications and marketing for Mid & South Wales Countryside and Pembrokeshire & Carmarthen Bay.

These two significant coast and countryside landscapes are at the heart of our urgent work in Wales to restore nature at scale. This is an exciting opportunity to help grow support for this ambitious work, sharing positive nature recovery stories across a range of channels and connecting people with nature, beauty and history.

  • Salary: £22,089.60 per annum (pro-rated for 30 hrs/week), based on a full-time equivalent salary of £27,612 per annum
  • Contract Duration: Permanent
  • Working Pattern: You will work 30 hours per week. Your working pattern can be flexible between Monday and Friday, with a mix of home working and time spent at National Trust Cymru places. We’ll discuss this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to spend at least one day each week on site within either of the coast and countryside areas, such as Stackpole, Rhosili or Dan Y Gyrn near Brecon. You’ll also have access to an office hub at Dinefwr, near Llandeilo.

Interviews will be held mid-end September. As part of the interview process, you will be required to complete a short task.

You’ll be part of a creative and supportive Wales-wide Marketing and Communications team, bringing our places, people and stories to life across a range of channels.

Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Delivery Partner for Restore Nature in Wales, you’ll work closely with colleagues across the region to help deliver our charity’s strategic goals. Working across two diverse portfolios of distinctive places and collaborating with a wide range of people and teams, you’ll enjoy a varied role where no two days are the same.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We're proud of the role the Welsh language plays in the places and communities we care for across Wales. Whether you're a fluent Welsh speaker, a learner, or completely new to the language, we'll support you to develop the skills and confidence needed for your role and to engage with Welsh language and culture as part of working at the National Trust.

What you'll be doing

You’ll lead Restore Nature communications and marketing activity across both portfolios, tailoring national strategy to local audiences and portfolio priorities.

At Mid & South Wales Countryside, you’ll help share stories of peatland restoration, habitat reconnection and partnership projects across iconic landscapes, including Bannau Brycheiniog National Park and the Gower Peninsula, connecting people to these special places and inspiring them to help care for them.

At Pembrokeshire & Carmarthen Bay, you’ll help tell positive nature recovery stories about species recovery, wetland restoration and conservation grazing across coastlines and commons. You’ll also promote events and experiences at treasured locations including the historic Stackpole Estate and tranquil Colby Woodland Garden.

You’ll create nature-focused content across channels including web, social media, email marketing and press, ensuring these stories reach and resonate with a wide audience. Working closely with senior colleagues, you’ll develop key messages and themes, find fresh ways to tell the stories of National Trust Cymru places, and engage audiences with our work to protect nature, beauty and history. This is a creative, fast-paced role balancing proactive and reactive priorities while promoting a wide range of campaigns and place-based stories.
