Join Our Team as a Senior Community Connector

Location: Sydenham (with hybrid working option)
Hours: 21.6 hours per week
Salary: £22,685 per annum (FTE £37,809 per annum)

At St Christopher’s, we’re working alongside local communities to improve experiences of serious illness, dying, death and bereavement. Our mission is to make an outstanding, equitable, palliative and end of life care and support a reality for more people when and where they need it.

As a Senior Community Connector, you’ll play a key role in building trusted relationships with local people, community groups and organisations, helping us understand community needs and create opportunities for meaningful participation.

What You’ll Do

You’ll:

  • Build strong relationships with community organisations, faith groups, charities and local leaders.
  • Coordinate and deliver community engagement activities, workshops, talks and health & hospice promotion.
  • Listen to community members, understand their needs and help ensure their voices shape our work.
  • Support and coordinate Community Connectors, helping to plan and deliver meaningful engagement activities.
  • Track engagement, share learning and contribute to the development of our community engagement approach.

What We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of community development or community working.
  • Experience engaging with communities to understand their needs and perspectives.
  • Strong organisational skills and experience coordinating multiple activities.
  • Experience of line managing staff or directing the work of others.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence presenting to groups and introducing new ideas or services.
  • Good IT and social media skills.
  • A flexible, proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Proven delivery skills, including ability to balance own workload, identify resources needed and engage with others in implementation in a timely way
  • The ability to work comfortably and compassionately with people at the end of life and those affected by death and loss.
