How You'll Make a Difference
As a Senior Compass Partnership Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring children, young people and families receive the right support at the right time through Compass, South Gloucestershire’s multi-agency Early Help service. Providing quality assurance, professional oversight and expert guidance, you will help ensure Early Help requests are robust, family-focused and supported by clear evidence, leading to appropriate and consistent threshold decisions.
Working closely with colleagues and partner agencies, you will build confidence and strengthen practice across the Early Help partnership. Through reflective discussions, risk assessment and oversight of daily activity, you will support professionals to identify needs early, improve outcomes for families and ensure effective pathways between preventative and statutory services.
What You Will Be Doing
A key aspect of your role will be quality assuring Early Help assessments and requests for support, providing constructive feedback and advice to colleagues and partner agencies to promote high-quality practice
- It will be your responsibility to undertake risk assessments, pre-triage requests and provide timely management oversight, ensuring support is identified at the most appropriate level.
- Using your professional judgement and experience, you will allocate work, lead reflective case discussions and support the resolution of threshold disagreements or escalated concerns.
- Working collaboratively across Access, Response and Preventative Services, you will attend threshold meetings to support consistent and effective decision-making.
- You will use performance and service data to identify trends, monitor activity and maintain oversight of Compass timelines, quality and outcomes.

What We Need From You
- It is essential that you hold a recognised qualification at NVQ Level 4, or equivalent, relevant to working with children, young people and families.
- We are looking for someone with substantial experience of working in children’s services and Early Help multi-agency settings, including managing complex situations.
- Confident in providing constructive challenge, you will have the ability to facilitate reflective discussions and communicate clearly and professionally with families, colleagues and agencies.
- You will have the ability to assess levels of need, prioritise and allocate work and provide guidance and support to colleagues.
- A good understanding of current legislation, safeguarding thresholds and Early Help practice is essential, alongside the ability to apply this knowledge confidently in practice.
- You must have IT skills and be knowledgeable of systems, with ability to interpret information.
What You Need To Know
- Hybrid working is available in line with service arrangements, with day-to-day activity centred on Compass and the wider Early Help partnership.
- An enhanced DBS check is required due to the nature of the work with children and families.
- The role involves regular communication with families and multi-agency partners across South Gloucestershire.
