Senior Compliance Counsel

As a Senior Compliance Counsel, you will play a critical role in supporting and advancing our compliance framework, partnering with business leaders and functions worldwide.

As a Senior Compliance Counsel, you will provide legal and compliance support across Baker Hughes' global operations, with a particular focus on Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Data Privacy, fraud prevention, and antitrust compliance. You will collaborate closely with business segments and functional teams to identify risks, deliver practical solutions, and strengthen the effectiveness of the company's global compliance program.

As a Senior Compliance Counsel, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing and supporting activities related to the Anti-Bribery & Corruption compliance program, including third-party due diligence, risk assessments, and mitigation measures.
  • Reviewing due diligence reports, KYC/KYS screening results, identifying potential compliance risks, and advising on onboarding and contract renewal decisions.
  • Providing compliance approvals and guidance regarding business courtesies, charitable donations, sponsorships, and related activities.
  • Supporting mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and minority investments through compliance advisory and due diligence activities.
  • Advising the business on Anti-Money Laundering, fraud prevention, antitrust, and related regulatory compliance matters.
  • Managing and supporting data privacy matters, including incident response, data subject access requests, privacy impact assessments, data transfer agreements, and contract negotiations.
  • Leading compliance-related projects, delivering training programs, supporting audits, and contributing to policy and procedure development.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a law degree from a reputable law school in the UK or a European jurisdiction.
  • Have eligibility to practice as a Solicitor in England & Wales or as an attorney qualified in a European jurisdiction.
  • Have Strong legal experience in private practice and/or an in-house legal department, focused on regulatory compliance, investigations, anti-bribery, AML, antitrust, and/or data privacy matters.
  • Have a strong understanding of anti-bribery, AML, antitrust, and data privacy laws and regulations across key jurisdictions.
  • Have experience supporting cross-border matters, including international regulatory investigations and international data transfers.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Have strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a practical, commercial approach to risk management.

Desired Characteristics

  • Have experience supporting corporate transactions, including mergers & acquisitions and joint ventures.
  • Have previous experience within the energy industry.
  • Have familiarity with third-party screening tools such as Exiger, Ethixbase, or similar platforms.
  • Have experience using OneTrust or comparable privacy management systems.
  • Have fluency in English; additional language capabilities are advantageous.
  • Have the ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders across a global organization.
  • Have a collaborative mindset and enjoy working as part of a diverse international team.
