Financial Services | Regulatory Change, Governance & Frameworks

Inside IR35
Initial 3-Month Contract
I am currently looking for an experienced compliance contractor to join a regulated financial services business and immediately take ownership of key compliance activities.
This is not a role for someone who has spent the last few years solely focused on AML, financial crime, transaction reporting, compliance monitoring, auditing, testing, or large-scale transformation programmes. I am looking for someone who can confidently step into a busy environment, operate with minimal supervision, and take ownership of compliance frameworks, governance, regulatory change, and advisory responsibilities from day one.
Responsibilities
- Own and enhance the compliance framework.
- Lead regulatory horizon scanning and impact assessments.
- Translate regulatory developments into practical business actions.
- Draft, update, and maintain policies, standards, and procedures.
- Provide day-to-day compliance advisory support to stakeholders.
- Support governance forums and committee reporting.
- Identify framework and control gaps and drive remediation activity.
- Partner with Risk, Legal, and business teams to ensure regulatory requirements are embedded appropriately.
- Support implementation of regulatory change initiatives across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
