Klarna, briefly

At Klarna, we're building an everyday finance network, helping over 120 million consumers across 26 countries save time and money, and worry less about their finances. Working here means taking on problems most companies never get to solve, and being hands-on enough that the interesting part of the work lands with you, not someone else- you'll build with AI, not watch it happen. This is the stretch zone. Come find out what you're capable of.

About The Role

You'll be one of Klarna's sanctions experts in Compliance, working across the OFAC, EU, UK, and UN regimes. You'll spend your time with the business, the cases, and the systems, being on top of what is actually happening. Every time a sanction regime changes, someone has to decide what it means for a bank operating in 26 countries, have that decision reflected in policy, and understand what that means for our products. That’s you. You'll find the problems, decide what to do about them, and see the fix through to validated closure.

You will work with many different teams, and you'll be the first call when a product team needs a fast, confident answer on sanctions policies.

What You'll Do

  • Interpret new designations and regulatory changes, assess what they mean for Klarna's business, and write the outcome into Group policies.
  • Run the annual sanctions risk and exposure assessment and turn its findings into policies, standards, or risk appetite.
  • Act as the sanctions expert in the NPA process, advising product and business teams on policy requirements.
  • Go out to the business, get into the details of its products and processes, and embed sanctions requirements in them.
  • Advise, challenge, and direct technical teams on sanctions and PEP screening, including tuning, testing, and model validation.
  • Make the call on case decisions, breach determinations, and escalations.
  • Structure and prioritize the closure of findings and remediation actions, validate that they are closed, and support their implementation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Who You Are

  • An expert with hands-on working knowledge of the OFAC, EU, UK, and UN sanctions regimes, and you've interpreted new designations and turned them into policy.
  • Own end to end risk and control assessments in practice, for example the annual sanctions risk assessment.
  • Have deep knowledge of how sanctions and PEP screening tools work, including matching logic, list management, and data quality, well enough to direct technical teams on tuning, testing, and model validation. Experience with in-house-built screening systems is preferred.
  • Comfortable making high-stakes compliance decisions on your own, such as case decisions, breach determinations, and escalations.
  • Work across Compliance, Legal, and business teams, manage stakeholders and their expectations, and advise quickly and confidently on policy requirements.
  • Structured and closed findings and remediation actions, including validating closure.
  • Proactive and self-driving, you like getting into the detail, and you don't wait for work to be handed to you.
