Senior Compliance Officer

Lead, influence and grow within a global compliance team.

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Compliance team at Guy Carpenter.

Are you an experienced compliance professional from a reinsurance, insurance broker or (re)insurer background, ready to step into a high-impact role? This is an opportunity to work alongside the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and help shape a strong, practical and commercially aware compliance culture across the business.

In this senior role, you will provide trusted oversight and expert advice on compliance policies, procedures, systems, controls and governance. You will also take on meaningful leadership responsibility — sharing your knowledge, coaching and mentoring colleagues, and helping guide decision-making when the CCO is away.

You will be joining a truly global organisation that offers excellent training and career development, as well as the chance to be part of a growing, highly skilled and enthusiastic Compliance team. If you are looking for a role where you can make a visible impact, broaden your leadership experience and help drive best practice at every level, we would love to hear from you.

The successful candidate for this role will be based in London on a hybrid basis, with a requirement to work 3 days per week in the office.

Based in London covering the UK, EU, India, Middle East & Africa, some travel may be required.

We will count on you to:

  • Work with the Chief Compliance Officer to provide day-to-day guidance and support to the business in the UK, Europe, India, Middle East and Africa
  • Lead on specific activities and projects
  • Ensure all compliance work is carried out to the required level of competence as set out by legal and regulatory requirements and Professional Standards policies
  • Assist with the enterprise risk framework, including risk appetite, governance, policies and limits across all business lines and geographies.
  • Lead enterprise risk identification, assessment and quantification (credit, market, liquidity, operational, conduct, cyber and strategic risks)
  • Comply with generally accepted principles of compliance and supporting the strategic and operating requirements of Guy Carpenter
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with the internal stakeholders
  • Review and keep up to date with changes in regulatory, legislative and market practices
  • Maintain the Guy Carpenter risk register
  • Assist with and maintain records for; regulatory breaches, gifts and entertainment, conflicts of interest, enterprise risk management, GDPR, third party payments, approved parties and sanctions
  • Actively participate in Compliance projects, developing recommendations and action plans related to Compliance and the Professional Standards Programs
  • Ensure that, where applicable, GC UK is aligned to the Compliance and Financial Crime Procedures of Marsh Ltd
  • Act as a sanctions subject matter expert and the point of contact to provide guidance to the UK business unit
  • Build relationships and give advice to the business on a range of sanctions referrals including complex cases, providing review and approval or escalating as required to senior management
  • Provide training on relevant corporate policies and procedures, including GC Professional Standards

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
