About Amatica

Amatica is a patient-founded data science and precision medicine company building one of the world’s largest and richest databases for chronic neuroimmune diseases, especially Long COVID and ME/CFS. These diseases significantly affect tens of millions of people and yet lack any approved diagnostics or treatments. Our aim is to develop precision medicine leads for this cluster of diseases and improve the lives of millions of people.

We were a first mover offering direct-to-consumer RNA sequencing, developing advanced data exploration tools and insights for both patients and healthcare practitioners. Each new patient expands our multi-omics database open-endedly, together with questionnaire and clinical data. We’re now scaling towards a data scale that allows us to study clinically important patient subgroups, match patient signatures to treatment outcomes, and advance towards biomarker and target identification.

The role

We are looking for a computational scientist and future leader to develop and lead the execution of our multi-omics data science programmes and be part of building our data science team as we scale. Your job is to work with our engineering team to develop our data architecture and drive our research into this complex disease population, leveraging state of the art Machine Learning methods. The two initial pillars are molecular subgrouping and stratification of a uniquely heterogeneous patient population and treatment response prediction.

Our data scale is at the threshold of where these discoveries become possible. Your job is to drive that research. What we find becomes the patient- and healthcare practitioner-facing insights that drive adoption, published findings with our world-leading academic collaborators, and the company’s proprietary signals that can be developed formally.

You'll also help shape how we capture and structure data going forward. As the person leading the analysis, you'll work closely with our founders and wider team on data architecture and quality decisions, as well as experimental design.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role today, with a path to building and leading the team as we scale. We're hiring a future leader who is inspired by a complex disease area with no existing clinical pathways and who wants to shape what the next generation of data science departments will look like.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you'll do

  • End-to-end analysis of our whole blood bulk RNAseq data: QC, batch handling, signature development
  • Multi-omics analysis as we layer on additional omics modalities including proteomics, WGS, epigenomics, metabolomics and ultimately single cell multi-omics.
  • Apply state of the art computational and ML methods to drive our R&D and discovery
  • Build treatment response and outcome classifiers, with the validation discipline that real clinical cohorts demand
  • Integrate molecular data with our symptom and treatment questionnaire data; mapping patient presentation onto biology
  • Generate and test your own hypotheses - bring findings and directions to the team and shape our strategy
  • Shape data architecture, capture and quality standards alongside our engineering team, who productionise your work so you can stay in the science
  • Contribute to the scientific story we tell patients, clinicians, partners and investors, and help chart the path from discovery signal towards clinical development

What we're looking for

  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, precision medicine data science, Machine Learning in a biological context or a closely related field, from a leading research institution, with relevant first-author publications
  • 3–4 years in industry, ideally at a small or growing biotech/healthtech where you built something substantial and took real responsibility
  • Future leader, you naturally take leadership of your work and want to be part of building out a cutting edge data science team to advance our findings all the way to clinical impact
  • Proof you've reached an endpoint that matters: patient subgrouping from omics data, a treatment response predictor, or a diagnostic - you've taken messy patient data all the way to a result that could advance to clinical development
  • Deep multi-omics data science fundamentals, with transcriptomics and deep biological passion and understanding
  • Strong data architecture and data quality instincts, you think about experimental and data acquisition design, not just how to analyse what you're handed
  • Biology-first. You’re passionate about disease biology, not just computational methods. Your thinking starts from a molecular biological level
  • Radically AI-native. You use frontier AI tools daily and they multiply your output
  • Agile across domains - you move between problems rather than getting pigeonholed in one
  • Industrious and autonomous. You'll be the only computational person for a while: you set your own agenda, solve what's in front of you, and explain your work clearly to non-computational colleagues
  • Based in the UK (preferred) or EU, with existing right to work - we can't sponsor visas at this stage
  • Genuinely bought into the mission, and here for the long haul with the goal to join a team uniquely invested in improving the lives of severely affected patients

Nice to have

  • Immunology, neuroscience or neuroimmune disease domain knowledge
  • Experience with blood-based transcriptomics specifically
  • Experience integrating EMR or clinical presentation data with multi-omics datasets
  • Interest in clinical translation: taking a discovery signal through validation towards a clinical product

What we offer

  • £80,000-120,000 plus meaningful equity.
  • First-scientist ownership of a proprietary, fast-growing multi-omics dataset
  • Direct collaboration with the founding team; your findings drive company direction
  • Remote-first and genuinely flexible - we're a distributed team on different schedules and we care about output, not hours
  • The chance to do foundational work in a disease area where almost nothing exists yet, for patients with no current clinical pathways
