Senior Construction Lawyer – 6+ PQE – London

The Role

You will join the London-based Construction team within the award-winning Real Estate practice. This is a stand-alone team that is highly integrated with other practice groups and handles premium mandates for developers, investors, lenders, and sponsors across all asset classes. The scope of work is diverse, covering procurement strategies, advisory and negotiation of construction contracts, and transaction support on large-scale real estate and financing deals.

The team is recognised for thought leadership in construction law and has been involved in some of the most significant developments in the London market. A particularly exciting growth area is its specialised work on data centre projects, where the firm is regarded as a key player, advising on procurement, risk management, and construction aspects for major technology and infrastructure investments. Beyond this, the group is active on retail, residential, logistics, and regeneration schemes, ensuring exposure to a wide range of sophisticated, complex instructions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drafting and negotiating contracts, including JCT, NEC, FIDIC and bespoke agreements
  • Managing high-value construction elements of financing, corporate and real estate transactions
  • Advising on procurement strategies, security, and collateral agreements
  • Leading workstreams, supervising junior lawyers, and ensuring smooth transaction delivery
  • Acting as a trusted adviser to clients on construction risk and early dispute matters
  • Driving business development and contributing to know-how initiatives

What They’re Looking For

  • A qualified construction lawyer with 6+ years’ post-qualification experience
  • Substantial experience acting on major construction deals with strong technical aptitude
  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating standard form and bespoke construction agreements (JCT and FIDIC essential)
  • Experience covering development agreements, forward funding and related arrangements
  • Ability to lead transactions, mentor juniors, and manage client negotiations with confidence
  • Strong commercial mindset and an interest in shaping the future of the practice, including engagement with technology-driven legal solutions
  • Demonstrable experience or enthusiasm for working on cutting-edge projects, including data centres and complex infrastructure matters
