Lexington is a leading independent strategic communications and public affairs consultancy. We are looking for an ambitious and experienced Senior Consultant (equivalent to an experienced Senior Account Manager or Account Director) to play a central role in our Corporate Communications & Reputation team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong agency or in-house experience to take ownership of client relationships, deliver high-impact communications programmes, provide strategic advice and help grow our corporate communications offer.
Our Corporate Communications & Reputation team works with organisations across a range of sectors, helping them build, protect and enhance their reputations in an increasingly complex media, political and stakeholder environment. We combine strategic insight, creative thinking and deep understanding of the issues shaping business and society to help clients tell compelling stories, navigate challenges and engage the audiences that matter.
As part of the team, you will advise clients on a broad range of corporate communications challenges, from building corporate profiles and securing positive media coverage to managing reputational risks, developing thought leadership and delivering integrated communications campaigns.
About the role
As a Senior Consultant, you will play a leading role in managing client accounts, developing communications strategies and overseeing the delivery of high-quality work across the team.
You will be a trusted day-to-day adviser to clients, bringing strong media knowledge, sound judgement and creative thinking to complex communications challenges. You will work closely with senior colleagues to develop strategic recommendations, identify opportunities for clients and deliver campaigns that achieve measurable results.
You will also have an important role in supporting junior colleagues, managing account resources and contributing to new business and the continued growth of the practice. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced consultancy environment, enjoys working across different sectors and brings both strategic thinking and a hands-on approach to delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Strategic communications: Develop and deliver corporate communications and reputation strategies that support clients' business objectives, strengthen their positioning and engage key audiences.
- Media relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with national, business, trade and sector media. Identify proactive media opportunities, develop compelling stories and secure high-quality coverage for clients.
- Reputation management: Advise clients on emerging reputational issues, stakeholder expectations and communications challenges, supporting both proactive reputation-building and reactive issues management.
- Client leadership: Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of client accounts, building trusted relationships, providing high-quality counsel and ensuring consistently excellent delivery.
- Content development: Oversee and produce high-quality written materials, including communications strategies, press releases, opinion pieces, speeches, briefings, corporate messaging, thought leadership, digital content and presentations.
- Campaign delivery: Lead the planning and execution of integrated communications campaigns, bringing together media relations, stakeholder engagement, digital communications and other disciplines to deliver measurable impact.
- Project and account management: Manage multiple client accounts and projects, ensuring deadlines, budgets and expectations are met. Oversee account resourcing, quality assurance, financial performance and reporting.
- New business: Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and win new clients, contributing to proposals, pitches, networking and the development of the team's offer.
- Team leadership: Provide guidance, coaching and line management to junior colleagues, helping develop their skills and maintaining a collaborative, supportive and high-performing team culture.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
