Overview
We know the role as a Senior Consultant, you may know it as a Company Secretary.
You’ll be working within the MUFG Corporate Governance team, a part of MUFG Corporate Markets, a division of MUFG Pension & Market Services. The MUFG Corporate Governance team is one of the largest company secretarial providers in the UK and is well-known for its expertise in corporate governance advisory services and company secretarial administration.
As a Senior Consultant, you will be responsible for delivering company secretarial services and corporate governance advice to a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from companies listed on the Main Market and AIM, to unlisted private companies. Ensuring service excellence in line with agreed timescales and internal processes. You will also act as a key point of contact for technical queries, while proactively contributing to the commercial success of our business. The MUFG Corporate Governance team is embracing new technology such as AI, so this is an exciting time to join us.
This role may offer opportunities for client secondments, so a flexible and open approach to this would be important.
You will be based from either our city centre office in Leeds or our central London office on a hybrid basis. This means you’ll need to be within a commutable distance to ensure you can be in the office each week with your colleagues.

- To be CGI qualified (ACG – Associate of the Chartered Governance Institute)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders and strong client facing and relationship management skills
- Meticulous attention to detail, with excellent organisational and project management skills
- Demonstrable company secretarial experience in the UK, including extensive knowledge of UK company law, the UK Listing Rules and best practice
- The capability of operating in the Board Room, with excellent minute taking skills and extensive experience in drafting accurate and comprehensive minutes
- An ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing conflicting deadlines
- Commercial awareness and a desire to work within a professional services environment, with a broad understanding of this model, preferably with experience of working within such an environment
- An ability to integrate into a dynamic team, working in a collaborative manner and taking a client lead role, whilst supporting colleagues when necessary
It would be nice to have:
- Experience of working in other jurisdictions
- A Degree or Masters in Law, Governance, Business or Finance
- Experience of client relationship management, timesheet entry systems and Board portals
Day to Day, you will:
- Provide timely and expert corporate governance advice and support to a varied portfolio of clients, including complex and high profile listed companies
- Attend and minute client board and committee meetings
- Proactively contribute to operational and / or client related improvement initiatives
- Contribute to or lead internal and external technical initiatives, e.g. training sessions, webinars and articles and share technical knowledge with other team members
- Actively engage with colleagues within MUFG Corporate Markets, seeking to develop networks and establishing mutually beneficial relationships whilst developing strong client relationships with intermediaries, third parties and key client contacts so to be seen as the first point of contact
- Accurately draft, prepare and review relevant documentation, provide accurate and timely data and advise and support junior colleagues
