Job Summary
The Senior Consultant role is a client-facing consulting position within Consulting Services, focused on leading Data, Analytics and AI engagements using Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL and Power BI. The role combines hands-on technical delivery, modern data platform architecture, governance, data engineering and analytics expertise with strong consulting, stakeholder management and communication skills. Responsibilities include leading workshops and technical engagements, designing scalable and secure data solutions, supporting pre-sales and proposals, mentoring consultants, managing delivery risks and helping clients realize business value from their data and technology investments, with occasional UK and international travel required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of complex Data, Analytics, AI and platform modernization projects using Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks and other Azure data services.
- Facilitate client workshops, discovery sessions and technical engagements, translating business requirements into practical data and analytics solutions.
- Design scalable, secure and well-governed data platform architectures that align with client objectives and industry best practice.
- Provide technical leadership throughout project delivery, ensuring solutions meet agreed quality, performance and business outcomes.
- Support business development activities by contributing to pre-sales engagements, solution architecture, estimates and commercial proposals.
- Design and develop data models, semantic models and analytics solutions that enable data-driven decision making and measurable business value.
- Advocate for effective data governance, user adoption and change management to maximize the value realized from technology investments.
- Mentor and support consultants, promoting engineering excellence, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across delivery teams.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, solution designs and client-facing deliverables to support successful project outcomes.
- Proactively manage technical risks, dependencies and delivery challenges, working with clients and project teams to ensure successful implementation and adoption.

Technical Skills
You’ll need experience with some of the following, and an ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly:
- Strong experience designing and delivering modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL and Data Lake technologies.
- Proven experience implementing Lakehouse, Data Warehouse and Medallion Architecture patterns, including data modelling, governance and performance optimization.
- Expertise in building scalable data ingestion, transformation and orchestration pipelines, integrating data from cloud, on-premises and third-party business systems.
- Strong hands-on capability with SQL, Python, Spark and PySpark for data engineering, analytics and automation workloads.
- Experience with Azure Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric engineering workloads, including notebooks, Delta Lake, data transformation, optimization and operationalization of data solutions.
- An understanding of data governance, security, lineage and data quality, using tools and frameworks such as Microsoft Purview and enterprise governance practices.
- Experience developing Power BI semantic models, dashboards and reporting solutions that enable self-service analytics and business decision-making.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices for deploying and managing modern data platforms.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, secure and supportable data and analytics solutions.
Project Delivery Experience
- 3+ years' experience delivering Data & AI, analytics or data platform projects using Microsoft and/or Azure Databricks technologies.
- 5 to 8 years' experience in a client-facing consultancy or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of Lakehouse, Data Warehousing, data modelling and modern analytics architectures.
- Experience building data pipelines, integration solutions and cloud-based data platforms.
- Excellent stakeholder management, workshop facilitation and communication skills.
- Able to bridge the gap between business requirements and technical solution design.
- Experience delivering projects using Agile methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and consulting capabilities.

What Experience/Skills Do I Need?
- Proven ability to deliver client engagements and drive successful outcomes.
- Some commercial experience in pre-sales, estimation, and scoping for SOWs.
- Strong client relationship skills, with a track record of high client satisfaction.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Strategic mindset with operational decision-making ability.
- Capable of influencing and guiding both clients and internal teams.
- Proactive in identifying new opportunities and resolving challenges.
