The opportunity

EY FSO Technology Consulting is expanding its Digital Engineering and DevOps capability to support financial services clients with secure, automated and reliable software delivery. This Senior Consultant role is for a practical hands-on engineer who can set up projects, automate pipelines, support cloud environments and collaborate with development, operations, security and client teams to improve delivery speed, resilience and control.


Key responsibilities

  • Set up and configure new projects in Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab or comparable DevOps platforms, including repositories, branching models, permissions and access controls.
  • Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, code quality, security scanning, release approvals and deployment across development, test, staging and production environments.
  • Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates, supporting repeatable provisioning of cloud infrastructure and platform components.
  • Build and support containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes, including deployments, manifests, Helm charts, configuration, secrets and environment-specific release workflows.
  • Configure cloud environments on Microsoft Azure, with awareness of networking, identity, security, monitoring, storage and platform services relevant to application delivery.
  • Integrate automated testing, code quality gates, vulnerability scanning and compliance controls into pipelines, working with development, QA and security teams.
  • Troubleshoot deployment failures, pipeline issues, Kubernetes errors, environment defects and production support incidents, documenting root cause and preventive actions.
  • Maintain deployment documentation, operating procedures, runbooks, environment diagrams and handover notes for client and EY delivery teams.
  • Work in Agile squads with product owners, developers, architects, QA, security, SRE and operations teams to support reliable end-to-end software delivery.
  • Contribute to reusable DevOps templates, platform patterns, engineering standards and automation accelerators across EY FSO Digital Engineering.

Preferred qualifications and competencies

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Typically 5-8 years of DevOps, cloud engineering, platform engineering or release automation experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps; Azure certifications such as AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-204, AZ-400 or relevant Kubernetes/Terraform certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience onboarding projects from scratch, including repository setup, environments, pipelines, cloud infrastructure, monitoring and release governance.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into automated, secure and repeatable delivery workflows.
  • Competencies: hands-on engineering, problem solving, ownership mindset, attention to detail, collaboration, stakeholder communication and continuous improvement.

What success looks like

  • Project teams have secure, repeatable and well-documented pipelines that support reliable build, test and deployment workflows.
  • Cloud environments are provisioned consistently using Infrastructure as Code and aligned to client security and operational standards.
  • Deployment and environment issues are resolved quickly, with root cause documented and preventive improvements implemented.
  • The Senior Consultant contributes reusable DevOps patterns and raises engineering discipline across the EY FSO delivery team.

Location, travel and ways of working

UK-based role, with hybrid working and travel depending on client engagement needs. The role supports Financial Services clients and requires adherence to EY quality, risk, security, privacy and professional standards.
