Senior Consultant - Flood Risk & Hydraulic Modelling
Location: London or Leeds
Salary: £43,000 - £53,000
We are hiring for a Senior Consultant (Flood Risk & Hydraulic Modelling) on behalf of a leading independent environmental consultancy, recognised for delivering high-quality, cross-disciplinary solutions in environmental policy, strategy, design, and assessment.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and troubleshoot hydraulic models (fluvial and pluvial) using Flood Modeller Pro and TUFLOW.
- Undertake hydrological assessments and interpret modelling results to inform development feasibility and design.
- Prepare Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) to support planning applications and conditions discharge.
- Contribute to projects across sectors including property, renewable energy, and aviation.
- Liaise with the Environment Agency on model reviews and technical requirements.
- Communicate opportunities and constraints to clients, including integration of flood mitigation measures into masterplans.
- Use GIS and AutoCAD to support modelling and reporting outputs.
- Prepare clear, concise technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders.
- Work with project teams from strategy development through feasibility, outline design, and planning submission.

What We're Looking For
- 4+ years' experience in hydraulic modelling and/or Flood Risk Assessments.
- Good knowledge of UK planning policy and guidance relating to flood risk (e.g. NPPF).
- Skilled in Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, GIS, and AutoCAD.
- Understanding of hydrology and rainfall/runoff analysis.
- Experience liaising with the EA and understanding their model review process.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Track record in producing FRAs (or strong interest in developing this expertise further).
- Awareness of project management and commercial delivery.
