EKOS is an independent UK consultancy, established in 1993, specializing in economic and social research for public, private, and third sector clients across the UK and internationally. The team supports economic and social change through services in areas such as regional policy, enterprise development, community regeneration, and place-based development. EKOS also works across science and knowledge industries, creative and cultural sectors, tourism and visitor services, employability, education and learning, and built infrastructure. The consultancy is committed to independence, high-quality service, and building long-term relationships with clients.
Role Description
The Senior Consultant / Principal Consultant role is a full-time position based in Glasgow with a hybrid working arrangement, combining office-based collaboration with some work from home. The role involves leading and delivering economic and social research and consultancy projects, including designing methodologies, managing data collection and analysis, and producing clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations.

Qualifications
- Strong applied research skills, including quantitative and qualitative methods, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Experience in economic development and social policy domains, such as regional policy, community regeneration, employability, education, or sectoral/industry analysis.
- Excellent written communication skills for drafting reports, briefings, proposals, and presentations tailored to diverse audiences.
- Client-facing skills, including stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation, and the ability to present complex findings in a clear, accessible way.
- Project and team management skills, including planning, budgeting, risk management, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
- Business development experience, such as preparing bids, responding to tenders, and identifying opportunities with new and existing clients.
- Relevant academic background, ideally a degree (or equivalent experience) in economics, social sciences, public policy, planning, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, collaborating in person in Glasgow and working independently from home when required.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional integrity, high-quality work, and building long-term client relationships.
- Familiarity with the UK policy landscape and experience working with public sector, third sector, or consultancy environments is highly beneficial.
