Senior Town Planner

With ambitious growth plans, this is an exciting time to join SYSTRA Ltd as we continue to develop and raise our profile in the UK. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Town Planner to play a key role in the delivery of projects by leading planning workstreams and ensuring that client, project and business objectives are achieved.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Lead and contribute to planning projects, ensuring client commitments are met and outputs are delivered to the required quality, time and budget.
  • Monitor planning workstreams against programme, budget and quality requirements, taking corrective action where needed.
  • Manage the checking and approval process to ensure compliance with client, project and company procedures, while taking responsibility for the quality of planning outputs and associated reporting.
  • Ensure project requirements are clearly and effectively communicated to the team and collaborators.
  • Act as Work Package Manager on small to medium-sized projects where required.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of planning policy, standards and regulatory requirements relevant to the discipline.
  • Support work winning, business development and marketing activities to help maximise team and company opportunities.
  • Apply established systems and procedures to ensure the safety of staff and others affected by operations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation applicable to the discipline.
  • Contribute to company-wide goals, business improvement initiatives and other duties as reasonably required.
  • Demonstrate behaviours aligned with the company’s values and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality integrated planning solutions.

Profile/Skills

  • Demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present and discuss proposals, justifications and conclusions effectively across multiple levels.
  • Bring experience of working effectively on multidisciplinary projects, with offshore team coordination experience considered desirable.
  • Show proven experience of delivering successful project outcomes through effective planning, implementation, budget and programme control.
  • Hold a degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Be a Chartered member of the MRTPI, or be working towards chartership with substantial relevant experience.
  • Have previous experience within a planning consultancy or local authority environment, alongside a strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
  • Possess excellent report writing skills and strong broader communication abilities
