Location: UK office-based / hybrid
Reports to: Technical Consulting Director / Project Manager
Role Overview
This role requires an experienced water specialist, scaled to Senior Consultant level: industrial water and wastewater management, water reduction assessments, technology due diligence, research/innovation, water audit and maturity assessments, and mine-impacted water.
Specific responsibilities
- Deliver water efficiency, water reduction and water maturity assessments for industrial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, mining and metals clients.
- Conduct desktop data reviews, site-based water audits, opportunity identification and practical water savings calculations.
- Review water/wastewater treatment systems, including regulatory/compliance drivers, operational performance and options for improvement.
- Support technology due diligence and benchmarking of conventional and innovative water/wastewater treatment and management solutions.
- Prepare clear, client-ready technical reports, recommendations and business-case inputs.
- Support mining and legacy-site water management projects, including review of monitoring data, conceptual site model inputs, and preliminary environmental risk assessment.
- Contribute to proposals, work-winning materials and technical methodologies for water efficiency, industrial wastewater, mine water and water stewardship opportunities.
- Coordinate fieldwork inputs and collaborate with site teams, environmental specialists, engineers and project managers.
- Mentor junior colleagues on data review, site audit preparation, opportunity calculations and technical writing.

Skills & Experience
- Relevant professional experience in water, wastewater, environmental engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong grounding in water/wastewater management and treatment, including industrial water use, effluent quality and operational improvement.
- Experience supporting or delivering water reduction assessments, water audits or maturity assessments.
- Ability to interpret operational water data, identify anomalies, calculate saving opportunities and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Familiarity with industrial sectors such as pharmaceutical, food and beverage, manufacturing, mining and metals, or water utilities.
- Strong report writing, data interpretation and client communication skills.
- Able to work independently on defined technical workstreams while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary project teams.
Tools & Software
- Excel for data analysis, calculations and visualisation.
- MS Office and SharePoint for document development and collaboration.
- Desirable: GIS, water balance tools, hydrological/hydrogeological screening tools, and experience with wastewater treatment option appraisal.
