Senior Content & Editorial Lead

Team: Central Brand & Marketing, Content

Location: London, office-first

Team description

SumUp recently invested in a full brand refresh, giving the business a distinctive new voice with real momentum behind it. The Global Content Chapter, more than 10 content managers working across the organisation, is ready for someone to take that voice further: to shape it into clear frameworks, champion it across every market and channel, and raise the bar for what great content at SumUp looks like. This is a chance to build and own that standard from the ground up, working closely with Marketing, Design and Product to make sure SumUp's words are as sharp and distinctive as its products.

What you'll do

  • Set and enforce editorial standards across the Global Content Chapter, giving direct feedback that sharpens ideas and cuts unnecessary revision rounds
  • Review, edit and approve copy across campaigns, social, CRM, retail and sales, making sure every piece is on brand and commercially clear
  • Build and evolve the verbal identity system: tone of voice guidelines, messaging hierarchies, approved terminology and channel specific guidance
  • Partner with Design, Marketing, Product and regional teams to turn briefs into clear creative direction for internal writers and freelancers
  • Brief, manage and quality control freelance copywriters and external agencies to protect brand integrity in outsourced work
  • Evaluate AI writing tools and set standards for their responsible use, so the team works efficiently without losing quality or distinctiveness

You'll be great for this role ifโ€ฆ

  • Hold a portfolio that demonstrates distinctive, commercially effective writing across brand, campaign and digital formats, not just competent copy
  • Have personally defined, documented and enforced a tone of voice across a complex organisation, rather than simply contributing to someone else's guidelines
  • Strong knowledge of content strategy beyond execution: building messaging hierarchies and editorial frameworks that others can follow
  • Experience giving direct, constructive feedback that raises the standard of a content team's output over time
  • Comfort moving between strategic work (standards, systems) and hands on execution when a piece needs senior creative judgement to get it over the line

Reasons to use Rodeo

Iโ€™m in my final year doing Economics and I donโ€™t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer โ€” it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโ€™t need a masters. Letโ€™s look at the ones youโ€™d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ€” that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
