This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Content Producer – Social Media based in the United Kingdom.
This role offers the opportunity to shape real-time digital storytelling around major news and political developments.
You will create accurate, engaging, and timely social media content that informs audiences across leading platforms. Working within a fast-paced media environment, you will combine strong editorial judgment, research skills, and creative execution.
The position requires staying ahead of breaking stories, verifying information, and transforming complex events into compelling social-first formats. You will collaborate with editors and content teams to maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and audience engagement.

Accountabilities:
As a Senior Content Producer – Social Media, you will be responsible for creating and managing high-quality social media coverage focused on US politics and news. You will monitor developments, verify information, and produce content that delivers timely and accurate updates across multiple digital platforms.
- Track US political, government, and national news developments throughout the day to identify important stories and emerging trends.
- Produce breaking news posts, updates, summaries, and other social-first content formats for platforms such as Facebook, X, and additional channels.
- Research and verify information using primary sources, official statements, public records, interviews, and trusted reporting.
- Follow evolving stories closely and publish updates as new verified information becomes available.
- Select and optimize relevant images, videos, graphics, and other visual assets to support each piece of content.
- Adapt content style, structure, tone, and length based on the requirements of each social platform.
- Collaborate with editors and content team members to coordinate coverage and maintain editorial accuracy.
- Manage multiple developing stories simultaneously while meeting fast-paced publishing deadlines.
- Maintain consistent editorial voice, visual standards, and quality expectations across all published content.
- Support coverage of major political events, elections, and breaking news moments, including occasional evening or weekend availability when required.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced social media content professional with strong knowledge of US politics, news cycles, and digital publishing. You should have excellent editorial judgment, strong research abilities, and the ability to create accurate content quickly in a deadline-driven environment.
- 4+ years of professional experience producing social media content for a news, politics, current affairs, or media-focused brand.
- Strong understanding of US politics, elections, government processes, public policy, and national news.
- Proven ability to monitor developing stories and identify relevant updates and audience-focused angles.
- Excellent news judgment with strong research, verification, fact-checking, and writing skills.
- Experience adapting news content for different social platforms and audience behaviors.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate social copy under tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of the difference between confirmed facts, reported claims, analysis, and opinion.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities while responding effectively to editorial feedback.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and credibility.
- Ability to create original written content independently; AI-generated or AI-rewritten content is not accepted.
- Availability to support time-sensitive coverage when major news events occur.
- Portfolio of relevant work, including social media accounts, posts, or campaigns managed.
