About Coaley Peak
Coaley Peak is a specialist AI consultancy based in Cheltenham, and the team behind Owlpen, our proprietary cost intelligence platform. We deploy AI inside real organisations rather than producing slides about it, and our training arm teaches UK businesses to use it properly. We are certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001, an accredited Living Wage employer, Disability Confident Committed, and a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant.
The role
Demand for our training has outgrown what our in-house team can deliver, so we are building a small bench of senior contract AI trainers across the UK. This posting covers London and the South East.
This is a part-time contract for services on an ad hoc basis. We offer you days as they come up in your territory, you accept the ones that suit you, and you invoice for the days you deliver. There is no retainer, no minimum guarantee of work, and no employee benefits.
The work varies widely in scale. One booking may be a half day with six people around a table at an SME; the next may be a full management team at a mid-sized firm; the next may be a presentation to a few hundred delegates at a conference or trade event. You need to be equally credible in all three settings.
You will deliver our existing programmes: AI fundamentals for non-technical staff, practical business applications, prompt engineering and LLM best practice, AI governance and UK regulatory context, and platform-specific sessions. You are not writing the curriculum from a blank page. We provide the materials, the workbooks and the exercises, and we brief you properly before every engagement.
Rate and terms
Up to £550 per day for in-person delivery, up to £350 per day for remote delivery, dependent on experience and sector background. A training day is 6 hours. Paid preparation time is agreed in advance for each engagement. Reasonable travel and accommodation costs are arranged and reimbursed where agreed in advance. Payment within 14 days of a correctly submitted invoice.

Two things that rule people out quickly
- You must live in London or the surrounding South East. This is a regional post rather than a national one. Bookings are often confirmed at short notice and start first thing in the morning, so we need someone already in the territory. We are not able to consider applicants travelling in from elsewhere in the country, however willing.
- We need hands-on AI practitioners, not theorists. You should have implemented AI in real organisations yourself, with real constraints and real users, and be able to talk about what broke, what was abandoned, and what actually stuck. Delegates ask practical questions within the first ten minutes, and a trainer whose knowledge comes from reading about the field rather than working in it is found out immediately.
Essential
- At least five years delivering corporate training to professional audiences, at a senior level. This is not a role for trainers early in their career
- Notable, provable experience training companies other than your own employer, with at least two contactable client references
- Notable experience delivering AI training specifically, with references or recordings we can review
- Based in London or the surrounding South East
- Hands-on experience implementing AI inside real organisations, not theoretical knowledge of it
- Complete reliability. When you accept a date, a client has booked a room and told their staff to be there, and we are not on site to cover for you
- High emotional intelligence. AI training rooms are rarely neutral: someone is frightened for their job, someone resents being sent, someone has been using ChatGPT quietly for a year and wants to test you
- Confident from a table of six at an SME to a stage presentation in front of a few hundred delegates
- Self-employed or operating through your own limited company, with your own professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- Right to work in the United Kingdom

Desirable
- Direct industry experience in sectors well represented in London: financial services, insurance, legal and professional services, marketing and advertising, technology, and media
- Experience presenting at conferences, trade shows, or industry events
- A formal training or facilitation qualification (CELTA, CIPD L&D, or equivalent)
- Understanding of UK AI governance and data protection legislation (UK GDPR, DPA 2018)
- Vetting: Enhanced DBS. Delivery in educational, healthcare, or public sector settings may require sector-specific checks.
