Senior Contracts Officer
North East | Up to £42,000 + Benefits | Permanent | Hybrid
Cedar is working with a public sector organisation in the North East to recruit a Senior Contracts Officer on a permanent basis with office expectations of 3 days per week (with some flexibility).
You will be responsible for managing and monitoring key service contracts, ensuring supplier performance, contractual compliance and value for money. You will oversee contracts with annual expenditure of approximately £20 million, working closely with contractors and internal stakeholders to manage commercial risks, resolve issues and improve service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring supplier performance and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
- Managing contract variations, payments, deductions and financial forecasts.
- Reviewing contractor submissions, challenging costs and negotiating resolutions.
- Monitoring budgets, identifying risks and opportunities for savings.
- Conducting compliance audits and preparing reports for senior stakeholders.
- Supporting contract management processes and providing guidance to colleagues.
Essential Requirements
- Experience in contract management, procurement, commercial management or supplier relationship management within a public sector environment.
- A strong understanding of contract compliance, supplier performance and cost management.
- Experience managing contractual variations, budgets and commercial risks.
- Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work confidently with suppliers and stakeholders.
