Senior Contracting Performance Manager

Job Introduction

At Tarmac, who you are matters. We are looking for a strategic, commercially minded and transformational leader to join our National Performance team as a Senior Contracting Performance Manager. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future performance of one of the UK's leading contracting businesses, delivering measurable improvements that drive growth, efficiency and long-term success. Based within our National Performance division, you'll work closely with senior leaders across the business to optimise performance, lead major improvement programmes and support the delivery of ambitious business objectives.

Reporting to the Contracting Performance Director, you'll be at the forefront of driving operational excellence, leading initiatives designed to improve profitability, maximise efficiency and embed a culture of continuous improvement across the contracting business. This is a highly visible leadership role, offering the opportunity to influence national strategy, develop high-performing teams and engage with key stakeholders across the UK and wider CRH network.

What You'll Be Doing

As Senior Contracting Performance Manager, you'll lead the delivery of strategic performance improvement initiatives that support business growth and help achieve ambitious EBITDA targets.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive continuous improvement strategy aligned with national contracting objectives
  • Identifying, leading and delivering optimisation projects that drive operational efficiencies, cost savings and commercial performance improvements
  • Managing and developing a team of Continuous Improvement Analysts, creating a high-performance culture focused on innovation, collaboration and results
  • Establishing and maintaining performance management frameworks, dashboards and reporting tools that provide clear insight into business performance
  • Analysing operational data, identifying trends and performance gaps, and facilitating root cause analysis to create sustainable solutions
  • Working closely with regional and national operational teams to review KPIs, agree improvement plans and drive accountability for results
  • Partnering with senior leaders to develop joined-up strategies that maximise value across the contracting business
  • Driving engagement with internal stakeholders, external customers and industry bodies to enhance collaboration, identify opportunities and strengthen Tarmac's market position
  • Championing change, innovation and best practice, ensuring continuous improvement is embedded throughout the organisation

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
