Senior Contracts Manager – Renewable Energy
Location: London
Working Model: Hybrid
We are working exclusively with a leading European renewable energy IPP specialising in the development, construction, and operation of large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.
With a multi-GW portfolio spanning the UK and Europe, the business is playing a significant role in the energy transition and has the backing of a major global investment platform.
As the business continues to expand its portfolio, they are looking to appoint a Senior Contracts Manager to take ownership of the commercial and contractual position across major renewable energy projects.
The Opportunity
This is a broad, hands-on contracts role covering the full project lifecycle — from pre-contract negotiations through construction, commissioning, and completion.
You'll work closely with Procurement, Legal, Engineering, Construction, Finance, and Asset Management to ensure projects are commercially protected and contractual obligations are effectively managed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial and contractual negotiation of EPC, grid works, BESS supply, module supply, and O&M/LTSA contracts
- Develop negotiating positions, risk allocation, and contractual strategies alongside internal stakeholders
- Manage contracts from tender clarification through execution and into construction
- Act as the key point of contractual advice on major project agreements
- Manage variations, change orders, claims, and extensions of time (EOT)
- Assess contractor entitlement, contractual notices, and supporting evidence
- Manage liquidated damages, performance guarantees, acceptance processes, and warranties
- Draft and manage formal contractual notices, reservations of rights, and correspondence
- Maintain claims, variations, obligations, and key-date registers
- Monitor contractual and commercial exposure, including forecast final cost and claims exposure
- Support the resolution of disputes, including mediation and adjudication where required
- Work with external legal counsel, lenders' advisers, and other project stakeholders
- Help develop contracts processes, templates, governance, and best practice across the business

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
