About the role
Join a team that's helping shape the Highland property market.
In this role, you'll be a key member of our Residential Property team, helping clients through one of life's biggest milestones while delivering a first-class conveyancing experience. Based in our Inverness office, you'll manage your own varied caseload of residential property transactions, working closely with experienced colleagues in a supportive, collaborative environment where you'll have the autonomy to make a real impact.
As our presence across the Highland market continues to grow, you'll play an important role in the ongoing success of our Inverness team—building trusted relationships with clients and professional contacts while contributing to the reputation of one of Scotland's leading legal firms.
It's about:
- Managing transactions - Taking ownership of residential property purchases, sales, transfers of title and re-mortgages from instruction through to completion, ensuring transactions progress smoothly and efficiently.
- Keeping matters moving - Preparing and reviewing conveyancing documentation, coordinating searches and working closely with lenders, local authorities and other third parties to keep transactions on track through to completion.
- Client relationships - Building trusted relationships with clients, providing clear, practical guidance and keeping them informed every step of the way.
- Working together - Collaborating closely with solicitors, lenders, estate agents, developers and colleagues across the wider Residential Property team to deliver a seamless client experience.
- Looking beyond the transaction - Recognising opportunities to support clients with other legal needs and introducing them to colleagues across the firm.
- Growing our presence - Contributing to the continued growth of our Inverness Residential Property team, strengthening relationships across the local property market and helping build Thorntons' reputation throughout the Highlands.

What you’ll need
We’re looking for someone who brings energy, confidence, and a genuine interest in property, along with:
- Previous experience as a residential conveyancing paralegal is essential, with the confidence to manage your own caseload independently from instruction through to completion.
- Strong technical knowledge of Scottish residential conveyancing processes and a commitment to delivering high-quality legal work.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach - you take pride in getting things right first time.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with a confident, client-focused approach.
- The ability to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and professional contacts across the property sector.
- A collaborative attitude - you'll be part of a team that values trust, support, knowledge-sharing and shared success.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
