Our Business Development & Marketing team plays a critical role in enhancing the Firm’s reputation, expanding its client base and driving revenue growth. This team develops and implements strategic marketing plans to promote the Firm’s legal services, leveraging digital and traditional marketing channels to reach target audiences. They conduct market research to identify industry trends and client needs, positioning the Firm competitively within the legal marketplace. The team also manages client relationships, orchestrates business development initiatives, and seeks opportunities for partnerships and networking. Through compelling content creation, event planning and public relations efforts, they ensure that the Firm maintains a strong market presence and continues to attract and retain clients.
Position Summary
The Senior Coordinator, Marketing & BD Operations plays a key role within the M&BD Operations team, enabling the wider Marketing & Business Development function to operate efficiently, consistently and at scale while delivering against its goals and strategic priorities. Working under the guidance of Specialists, Team Leads and senior team members, the role provides high-quality operational support across core M&BD processes, including matter capture, legal-directory and awards submissions, pitches and league-table reporting. The Senior Coordinator provides essential support to help the team make informed Business Development decisions, including those relating to developments in key sectors, industry groups and client opportunities. The role undertakes fact-finding and analysis, applies sound judgement based on prior experience and supports the timely resolution of a broad range of Business Development needs.
The role has a direct impact on the team’s day-to-day effectiveness by maintaining high standards of work and coordinating the smooth delivery of Business Development initiatives, particularly client pitches, proposals and capability statements. The Senior Coordinator may supervise or act as an informal resource for junior colleagues and administrative roles, providing guidance within established processes and escalating atypical or complex matters where appropriate.
Duties And Responsibilities
Business Development Support and Analysis
- Provide support and guidance to team members on standard Business Development matters, processes and activities.
- Conduct fact-finding exercises, research and analysis to support informed decision-making on client, sector, industry and market-related matters.
- Gather, evaluate and synthesise information from multiple sources, providing informed and practical judgement based on available data and prior experience.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive developments and relevant market activity to inform Business Development decisions, strategic planning and client-targeting activity.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the processes, procedures, systems and platforms used within the M&BD Operations discipline.
- Work with appropriate independence on established activities, seeking guidance and escalating complex, unusual or material issues when required.
Strategic Planning and Client Cultivation
- Gather and organise research on priority clients, prospects, sectors and industry trends to support strategic planning and client cultivation activity.
- Maintain and update client lists, contact databases and records of client interactions, ensuring accurate information is available for planning, outreach, tracking and reporting.
- Support the scheduling and logistics of client meetings, events and follow-up activities.
- Support the coordination of client-feedback activities, including scheduling, preparing materials and maintaining tracking records.
- Share practical insight and knowledge with junior team members to build their ability to support key-client and industry activity.

Pitches, Proposals and Credentials
- Support and contribute to the preparation of client pitches, proposals and capability statements, using knowledge of relevant sectors, practices and regions to inform the approach.
- Gather biographies, deal lists, credentials and other supporting materials for pitches and proposals.
- Maintain pitch templates and standard materials, ensuring that documents remain current, accessible, consistent and high quality.
- Assist with the management of pitch and proposal deadlines, document formatting, review processes and submission requirements.
- Support matter capture and the maintenance of pitch outcomes and credentials databases, ensuring that data is accurate and updated in a timely manner.
- Mentor junior colleagues and support training, learning and development across pitch, proposal and credentials processes.
Practice, Partner and Lawyer Positioning
- Draft legal-directory submissions and award entries, including through research, submission preparation and gathering client referees from partners.
- Maintain submission, outcome and deadline tracking logs to ensure the timely completion of legal-directory and awards processes.
- Maintain repositories for rankings, awards and related materials, ensuring data quality, consistency and accessibility.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of legal-directory results summaries, ensuring high levels of accuracy and effective use of data.
Project Delivery and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Assist in developing and implementing strategic initiatives that align with Business Development objectives.
- Execute assigned projects from initial scoping through to completion, supporting timely delivery and successful outcomes.
- Act as a connector across the M&BD function and collaborate with other business-services teams, including Marketing, Research, Events, Finance and People/HR, to support integrated delivery.
- Participate in collaborative projects, team initiatives and global M&BD Operations activity, including providing logistical and coordination support.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across M&BD Operations and the wider global function by identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working.
- Develop and contribute to knowledge-sharing documentation, process guidance and training materials.
Team Co-ordination, Reporting and Governance
- Coordinate work undertaken by junior team members and more administrative roles, providing guidance and promoting quality, consistency and timely delivery.
- Act as a trusted source of knowledge on M&BD processes, platforms and products, identifying opportunities to improve connectivity and operational effectiveness.
- Track and update key metrics, activity logs and planning tools to support progress monitoring and reporting on outcomes.
- Oversee and assist with the preparation of regular reports, summaries and materials for leadership and team meetings.
- Ensure that records, documentation and calendars are accurate, up to date and compliant with Firm standards.
- Comply with internal policies and applicable external regulations, promoting ethical practices and appropriate professional conduct at all times.
- Support new-joiner inductions and help raise the profile of the M&BD Operations team and its service offering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience. Relevant professional certification or qualification is advantageous and the individual may be working towards a relevant qualification where appropriate.
- Interest in Business Development, marketing or professional-services operations.
- Comprehensive practical understanding of the processes, procedures and systems within the M&BD Operations discipline.
- Experience supporting Business Development activity, including client pitches, proposals, capability statements, credentials management, research or client cultivation.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather and evaluate information from multiple sources and make sound judgements.
- Ability to complete work accurately and independently within established procedures while escalating complex issues for guidance and support.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate work, guide colleagues and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to support, mentor and provide guidance to junior team members.
- Proficiency in standard business software and CRM platforms, or the ability to develop this proficiency promptly.

Preferred Skills And Experience
- Experience in a legal, professional-services or similarly complex international organisation.
- Experience supporting legal-directory submissions, awards programmes, pitch processes or credentials databases.
- Experience undertaking sector, market, competitor or client research.
- Experience using CRM systems, reporting tools, data-management platforms or workflow-management systems.
- Experience supporting operational projects, process-improvement initiatives or cross-functional programmes.
- Experience preparing reports, presentations, performance summaries or stakeholder updates.
Location
This role is based in London. Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a requirement for 4 days (Monday to Thursday) in the office per week.
