ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance)

ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) is the framework businesses use to measure their ethical impact and sustainability, and it is one of the fastest-growing areas in the fashion industry. New legislation in the UK and Europe now makes brands accountable for the packaging they put into the world, opening up a new career path in packaging compliance for people with an aptitude for product, data and detail.

About the Role

As Senior Coordinator for Packaging Compliance and ESG, you will be joining an ESG team of four at a leading contemporary fashion brand based in Central London. Your focus will be on collating and making sense of the data behind the evolving world of packaging compliance in the fashion industry, which includes everything from labels and swing tags to bags and boxes. This is an initial 6-month fixed-term contract with the potential to become permanent in a growing team.

You will take the lead on selected workstreams, research and champion packaging initiatives, feed into internal and external ESG and compliance reporting, and contribute to building the strategy itself. Working closely with internal teams and suppliers, your goal is to keep the business compliant and make things more transparent, whilst keeping the environmental work moving forward.

The role best suits an Assistant or Coordinator from a Product, Analysis, Compliance, Sustainability or similar background, with around 1 to 3 years of experience involving packaging compliance, and ESG if possible. Ideal if you are between roles, freelancing or would like to specialise in ethical impact and sustainability. Fashion industry experience would be a bonus. An aptitude for research, process improvement and data gathering is essential for ESG compliance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
