Salary:
£83,997 - £125,996 dependent upon experience

- Up to 20% Bonus
- Car Allowance - £650 Monthly
- Contributory pension scheme - Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution Up to 10%
- Contributory share scheme - Caterpillar will match 50% of the employee's contribution.

The Opportunity
Caterpillar is seeking an experienced commercial lawyer to join the Legal Services team in Peterborough, supporting Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division. This division includes the Perkins Engines Company subsidiaries, with significant operations in the US and UK and facilities in Brazil, China, and India.

Operating within Caterpillar’s global Legal Services network, the role also provides in‑country legal support to other Caterpillar business units with operations in the UK.
This role offers exposure to a global industrial leader, a broad range of complex legal matters, and close integration with the business to support strategic and operational objectives.
What You Will Do
The Senior Corporate Counsel provides legal support across a broad range of commercial and corporate matters, enabling the business to manage legal risk while achieving its strategic and operational goals.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide legal advice and support on commercial, direct sales, distribution, purchasing, dispute resolution (including litigation), and general business matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
- Provide legal analysis and counsel to senior business leaders supporting manufacturing operations and sales and marketing activities.
- Manage corporate secretarial matters for Caterpillar’s UK legal entities.
- Identify, assess, and help resolve legal risks, including complex or novel issues, with appropriate escalation and guidance from Legal Services leadership.
- Collaborate with Legal Services colleagues globally to deliver consistent, practical, and business‑focused legal solutions.
The role reports to the Associate General Counsel, Industrial Power Systems Division.
What You Have
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A law degree and qualification to practise law in England.
- Progressive post‑qualification experience in commercial and corporate law.
- Demonstrated ability to provide practical, solutions‑oriented legal advice to business partners.
- Strong drafting and negotiation experience across complex commercial agreements.
- Ability to communicate legal risk clearly and effectively to non‑legal stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment.

The role will require a 5 day a week on site presence.
