Senior Cost Consultant (MEP) – Education Sector – Mace
About the Role

We are recruiting a Senior Cost Consultant with an MEP background to provide end-to-end cost management services for ongoing projects within our Education sector team.
Responsibilities

Strategic Cost Management:
- Conduct feasibility studies and advise on procurement strategies and contract selection.
- Prepare and undertake procurement reports, applying value management techniques from project inception.
- Lead cost planning and estimation, ensuring ownership of—and presenting—the final cost plan.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a key interface with clients, stakeholders, and consultants across all project stages.

Contractual Administration & Closing:
- Manage and negotiate final accounts to secure agreement.
- Handle contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT, NEC).

Process & Service Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance cost management procedures, templates, and products for better client service.
- Propose and implement internal systems and process improvements to elevate efficiency.
Requirements

MEP Cost & Commercial Expertise:
- Provide contract administration advice, including JCT/NEC procurement strategies and life cycle costing.
- Conduct Capex vs. Opex cost analysis and offer commercial insights on:
- MEP systems
- Sustainability & carbon reduction
- Public-sector priorities

Technical & Professional Acumen:
- Apply industry best practice, multi-sector experience, and professional standards to drive client outcomes.
- Demonstrate value engineering capability and a forward-thinking approach to projectamber/nature.
