We have an opportunity for a Senior / Associate Quantity Surveyor to join our cost management team at Ridge and Partners.

You will become part of our dynamic and collaborative team of 10 people working together to achieve team success and will be encouraged and supported to progress your career within the cost management discipline in the Reading office.

About the Role:

At Ridge, we are proud to work on a diverse portfolio of exciting projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across a variety of sectors, including (but not limited to) education, residential, hospitality, and industrial developments. You will act as a key point of contact for clients and contribute to the successful delivery of projects ranging in value from £1m to £50m.

The role will be varied and include day to day lead on a variety of projects specifically including:

  • Cost Planning at various RIBA stages including producing preliminary and detailed cost estimates (from feasibility through to detailed design)
  • Pre-Contract services, including:
    • Providing advice on procurement strategy and the overall tendering process
    • Provide advice on contract arrangements
    • Negotiation/agreement of a Contract Sum (experience of two stage tendering an advantage)
    • Prepare tender documents
    • Advising clients on tenders when received
    • Prepare contract documentation
  • Post Contract services, including:
    • Providing advice on contractual matters / procedures
    • Valuing completed work and approving progress payments
    • Monitor changes in design and measure, value and negotiates variations
    • Budget management and cost reporting to the client
    • Negotiate final accounts
  • Working closely with the Team and mentoring / working with graduates
  • Client facing
  • Developing existing and new Client contacts and relationships

The skills and experience you need to have for this role:

  • Relevant degree
  • MRICS preferred but not essential
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor (consultancy) with extensive experience you can evidence
  • Articulate, capable of establishing and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Commercially aware with excellent negotiation and organisational skills.
  • Sound knowledge of JCT Contracts
  • Working collaboratively within a team
