We are looking to appoint a dedicated, forward-thinking Senior Cost Manager in Glasgow, although the location for this role is flexible providing the individual can travel to Glasgow on occasion. This opportunity is a flexible contract seconded to one of our key strategic clients in the defence sector, with an expected workload of between three to five days per week to start with.

We're looking for someone who is able to work independently on arrival, with strong commercial management experience and great client management skills. Joining a supportive network, you can expect to receive training, guidance and genuine scope for career development.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure accurate provision of cost estimates, bills of quantities, contract documents and reports.
  • Carries out audits/cost checks/reviews of construction and FM contracts.
  • Identifying and quantifying cost risks and opportunities, monitoring project budgets, contingencies and cash flow.
  • Resources own jobs, undertakes team supervision and monitors internal costs.
  • Runs Design Team meetings, reports on and gives advice on cost control matters.
  • Compliance with Health & Safety requirements, practices and procedures.

Please note that due to this role being for a Defence client, security clearance will be required, and this will be undertaken once you have secured the role. You must be a British national to be eligible to undergo the security clearance process.

Our ideal Senior Cost Manager will have:

  • Chartered Surveyor with post chartered relevant experience (desirable)
  • Member of RICS.
  • Strong track record in a consultancy Quantity Surveying role, including cost management of building projects, feasibility/option studies, detailed cost planning, post contract cost management.
  • Thorough understanding of the principal standard forms of Building Contracts including JCT and NEC3.
  • Excellent client management skills.
  • Ability to control day to day programming and planning.
  • Excellent client communication skills.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
