Role Overview
Our Client is a leading FTSE 100 Medical Devices business, with an excellent legal team who are currently growing and looking for an experienced senior commercial counsel to support on critical areas of the business, supporting the R&D department, Manufacturing Operations and Procurement, in what will be a broadly very commercial role. They are ideally looking for someone with good private practice training, as well as in-house experience, in either Pharma, Devices or broader manufacturing business, as the role is really for a commercial lawyer with IP knowledge who can do the commercial contracting and can support the early-stage development through to manufacturing rather than being purely IP. This will be a highly autonomous role, so you will need to be comfortable working independently and have gravitas, so they are looking for around 8-12PQE, though more senior applicants will be considered. The role also offers excellent flexibility to work almost entirely remotely.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
