Role: Senior Counter Claims Fraud Handler
Location: Remote // Hybrid // Colchester
Working: 35 Hours a week Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
Salary: Negotiable upon experience + Annual Performance related bonus
What you will be doing:
The Senior Counter Fraud Handler is a full-time remote role responsible for investigating, assessing, and managing suspected fraudulent claims across multiple lines of business. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing claims data and documentation, identifying fraud indicators, conducting detailed investigations, and making evidence-based recommendations on claim outcomes. The role involves collaborating with internal claims teams, insurers, and external stakeholders such as legal representatives and investigators to ensure robust counter-fraud strategies are applied. The Senior Counter Fraud Handler will draft clear, professional reports, maintain accurate case records, and support the development of best practices, processes, and systems to mitigate fraud risk. This position also includes mentoring less experienced team members, contributing to training initiatives, and supporting continuous improvement of fraud detection tools and workflows.

What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience in counter fraud, claims handling, or insurance investigations, with a track record of managing complex or high-value cases - (Minimum 2 years)
- Knowledge of insurance products claims processes, and fraud risk indicators within commercial and/or personal lines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and draw logical, evidence-based conclusions.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear investigation reports and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities to manage multiple cases, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records in a remote environment.
- Comfort with digital tools and claims technology platforms, with the ability to learn new systems and contribute to process and system improvements.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with colleagues, partners, and external experts.
- Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in insurance, fraud investigation, or risk management are beneficial, not essential (e.g., CII, counter fraud qualifications).
- Experience in a regulated environment, with understanding of compliance, data protection, and legal considerations related to claims and investigations.
