Senior Designer – Butternut Box

Fresh Food. Happy Dogs.

We believe dogs deserve the healthiest, most natural and tastiest meals—with none of the nasties. That’s why we make freshly prepared food, cooked just like you would at home, and delivered direct to customers in perfect portions. As a B-Corp certified company, you’re joining a sustainable business that genuinely cares about its people, products, and impact on the planet. Our simple yet bold mission: to help dogs live healthier, happier, and longer lives—while ensuring humans smile at every interaction.

We’ve grown from hand-delivered Butternut Box prototypes to feeding hundreds of thousands of dogs across the UK and Europe. But we won’t stop until we’re feeding dogs everywhere. To get there, we need brilliant people who share our ambition—join us.

Bright paw prints ahead? Apply for this role—it closes on *26th June 2024.

The Senior Designer Role Summary

You’ll take full ownership of creative projects, balancing craft with commercial impact while raising the standard of everything our Creative Studio produces. Leading from concept to delivery, you’ll oversee a mix of work—CRM campaigns, paid social, packaging, OOH, direct sales and more—while mentoring a small but might team. You’ll also pioneer how AI reshapes design workflows, ensuring we stay ahead of the curve before the industry follows.

This is not a "brief-takes-and-executes" role. It’s an own-the-outcome role: you’ll move the needle on performance, elevate quality, and report to the Creative Studio Lead.

Key Responsibilities

Project Ownership & Creative Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end creative projects across:
    • CRM campaigns
    • Paid social statics
    • Packaging designs
    • OOH (Out-of-Home) work
    • Direct sales materials
  • Concept and deliver painter-level quality projects—no generic briefs, no "safe choices."
  • Mentor a small team, providing clear feedback and setting new skill benchmarks.

AI-Powered Design Innovation

  • Be a pioneer in AI-led design, testing and integrating tools to improve:
    • Ideation speed
    • Personalisation
    • Production efficiency
  • Showcase how you’ve actively experimented with AI (not just theoretical knowledge).

Performance-Driven Creative

  • Use real-time analytics (CTR, CVR, A/B testing) to improve conversion-driven assets in high-funnel and high-value campaigns.
  • Continuously optimise top-performing channels based on measurable results.

System & Brand Consistency

  • Design Figma-based systems, component libraries, and toolkits for wider accessibility—letting junior creators and global teams accelerate output without sacrificing quality.
  • Develop technical packagings specs (dielines, bleed, colour profiles):
    • Ensure world-class unboxing experiences for product launches.
    • Own the full print process—from concept to final execution.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

    • Projects that blend conceptual boldness with polished outcomes.

  • Hands-on experience with AI tools—name specific tools and practical applications. (Example: what's the quickest way you've used AI to generate a workable asset?)
  • Comfort with data-driven decisions: Analysing CTR, CVR, and A/B test outcomes, then translating it back into simpler, stronger designs.
  • Mentorship track record: Developed juniors before—show a concrete example of someone’s work improving due to your feedback.
