Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to join the Credit Research team at L&G Asset Management.

As Senior Credit Analyst you’ll specialise in the Financial Institutions sector, with coverage focused on banks and/or insurance companies. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality fundamental credit research, assessing ESG and regulatory risks, and generating investment recommendations across the capital structure of primarily European issuers. The role will directly support investment decision-making across our fixed income portfolios.

  • Assuming primary responsibility for the credit coverage of a specified list of banks and/or insurance companies
  • Conducting in-depth fundamental credit analysis across business models, financial performance, capital adequacy, liquidity, asset quality and management strategy
  • Monitoring regulatory, political, macroeconomic and industry developments, evaluating their impact on issuer creditworthiness and relative value opportunities
  • Maintaining financial models, forecasts and stress-testing frameworks to support forward-looking credit analysis
  • Identifying and monitoring investment opportunities across issuers, sectors and the capital structure
  • Producing research notes, credit opinions and investment recommendations for portfolio managers and other stakeholders
  • Presenting credit views, investment ideas and sector insights to portfolio managers, investment committees and broader investment teams
  • Contributing proactively to meet the output requirements of the Global Research and Engagement Group (GREG) while supporting ad hoc credit requests, client queries and continuous improvements to research processes and analytical framework

Who we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrate strong credit research experience covering banks and/or insurance companies
  • Experience gained on the buy side, sell side or within a credit rating agency, Direct buy-side portfolio-facing experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of Financial Institutions, including business models, regulation, capital structures and key credit metrics
  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills
  • Ability to develop independent credit views and explain them clearly
  • Strong awareness of financial markets and macroeconomic trends
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive, curious and collaborative approach, with strong attention to detail
