About the opportunity
Via is supporting our client to recruit an experienced Senior Credit Controller to join their finance team.
This is a hands-on role with responsibility for managing credit and accounts receivable, collecting outstanding debt and helping the business maintain healthy cash flow. You'll manage customer accounts from both a collections and credit-risk perspective, including setting credit limits, assessing creditworthiness and resolving overdue balances. You'll also work closely with sales and customer service teams to resolve account issues while maintaining strong customer relationships.
The role would suit an experienced Credit Controller who is ready for more responsibility, or an established Senior Credit Controller looking for their next opportunity.
What you'll be doing
- Manage credit control and accounts receivable across a portfolio of customers
- Proactively collect overdue and delinquent accounts
- Assess customer creditworthiness and establish appropriate credit limits
- Monitor credit exposure and identify potential risks before they become problematic
- Carry out regular credit reviews based on payment history and changes in customer circumstances
- Build positive customer relationships while confidently managing overdue payments
- Investigate and resolve credit, invoice and payment queries
- Work with sales and customer service teams to resolve issues affecting payment
- Support improvements to credit control processes and collection efficiency
- Help minimise bad debt and improve overall cash flow
- Escalate accounts and instruct debt collection agencies where required

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
