Senior Credit Control Lead

Location: London

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office

Employment Type: 6-month contract

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Credit Control Lead to join the Finance Operations team of a fast-paced, high-growth business.

Reporting to the Credit Control and Billings Manager, you will lead a small team of Credit Controllers, taking responsibility for team performance, collection targets, credit control processes and the management of a high-value customer ledger.

This is a hands-on leadership position, combining people management, credit control, collections, financial controls and accounting responsibilities. You will also play an important role in the monthly financial close process, including the preparation and posting of accounting journals.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Credit Control or Accounts Receivable professional who is comfortable working in a high-volume environment, managing complex customer accounts and driving a team to achieve measurable collection targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a small team of Credit Controllers against clear KPIs.
  • Set targets, monitor performance and implement actions to improve collection results.
  • Manage workload allocation and act as escalation point for complex customer disputes.
  • Personally manage high-value strategic accounts and drive end-to-end debt collection.
  • Proactively reduce aged debt while ensuring collection SLAs are consistently achieved.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, collection notes, payment allocations and ERP data.
  • Identify credit risks and ensure adherence to internal controls and collection policies.
  • Prepare and post bad debt write-off, cash correction and reallocation journals.
  • Support month-end close through reconciliations, reporting and accurate AR balances.
  • Contribute to Finance Operations projects, system improvements and cross-functional initiatives.

About You

  • Proven Senior Credit Control, Credit Control Lead or Accounts Receivable experience.
  • Strong end-to-end credit control, collections and strategic account management experience.
  • Proven team leadership, KPI ownership and achievement of collection targets.
  • Strong understanding of SLAs, financial controls, risk mitigation and dispute resolution.
  • Hands-on experience posting bad debt and cash correction/reallocation journals.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP or Oracle.
  • Experience using Looker, Tableau or similar reporting/BI tools.
  • Experience managing multi-currency collections.
