About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Credit Risk Analyst to join Virgin Money UK's Unsecured Credit Risk team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping and implementing credit risk strategies specifically for our Current Account and Overdraft portfolios. Your expertise will support the development of responsible lending practices that align with regulatory expectations and our risk appetite, ensuring that our products meet the evolving needs of our members. This position offers an excellent opportunity to influence strategic decisions, lead impactful projects, and collaborate with senior stakeholders across the organization. You will be at the forefront of credit decision-making, analyzing large data sets, identifying trends, and providing insights that drive responsible growth and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in credit risk management within the UK banking or consumer lending sectors. A strong understanding of unsecured lending products, including current accounts and overdraft facilities, is essential. You should have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyze complex data, produce management reports, and deliver compelling presentations to senior leadership. Experience with data manipulation using SAS or similar programming languages is highly desirable. A comprehensive knowledge of the UK regulatory framework for consumer credit and lending is required, along with a proven track record of developing and delivering effective credit risk strategies. Excellent stakeholder management skills, combined with the ability to influence outcomes and drive continuous improvement initiatives, are crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the effectiveness of credit risk decision-making processes for the Current Account and Overdraft portfolios.
  • Monitoring and evaluating lending strategies, ensuring they operate within risk appetite and regulatory boundaries while supporting customer needs.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams such as Product, Collections & Recoveries, and Compliance to provide expert insights and recommendations.
  • Investigating data trends, conducting deep dives into management information, and preparing reports for key committees.
  • Leading projects related to strategy testing, data-driven insights, and process improvements.
  • Using analytical skills to identify risks and opportunities, influencing strategic decisions, and ensuring responsible lending practices that foster long-term customer relationships.
